What size dumpster do I need?
Most home remodels and room cleanouts fit a 20-yard. Pick a 15-yard for heavy material like concrete, dirt or shingles, a 30-yard for additions and new construction, and a 40-yard for commercial jobs and warehouse cleanouts. If you are unsure, dispatch will size it with you on the phone.
Container size is volume, not weight. Heavy debris reaches the weight allowance long before the box looks full, which is why concrete and dirt go in the smaller, lower containers.
What can't go in a roll-off dumpster?
Household trash, furniture, construction debris, yard waste, wood, drywall, flooring and roofing are all fine. Landfills do not accept hazardous materials, so keep out paint and solvents, oil and fuel, batteries, tires, propane tanks, appliances containing refrigerant, and anything medical or chemical. Ask dispatch about anything in between.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster?
Not usually, if the container sits on your own driveway or property. If it has to sit on a public street or sidewalk, most cities require a right-of-way permit. Tell dispatch where it will go and we will point you to the right city office before delivery day.
How do I protect my driveway?
Tell dispatch what the container will sit on. On pavers, new concrete or soft asphalt, plywood under the container rails spreads the load. On delivery day, keep cars out of the way and make sure the truck has a long, straight approach with no low wires or branches over the drop spot.
